Bookings
If your organisation would like the Isle of Wight Scottish Fiddlers to play for you, we would ask that consideration is given to the following important planning items - all of which have a significant contribution to the success or otherwise of the planned event:
Fees - The IWSF do not make any charge for their performances, but if yours is not in aid of a ‘good cause’ or Charitable event, we would invite you to make a donation to our annually nominated Charitable Fund.
Expenses - Because the IWSF wish to make as much money as possible for good causes, they are largely self financing - meeting running costs (for rehearsal rooms, purchase of music, basic equipment etc.) almost entirely from members’ subscriptions. Our members even pay their own travel expenses to engagements. However, where there is no conflict of interest, the IWSF might occasionally ask to be allowed to place a bucket near the exit for small change to help with our administration costs.
Performance Area - To accommodate the IWSF, an indoor performance area of not less than 25 feet by 15 feet will be required - this is because stringed instruments will quickly go out of tune in the open air/direct sun light.
Chairs - Chairs for the performers need to be upright and without arms. About 20 would be required.
Power - Although most of the performers are acoustic, some electrical power is required for small amplifiers and music stand lighting. A minimum of two 13 amp sockets will be required near to the performance area.
Changing Facilities - changing facilities (incl. toilets) will be required for the performers to safely store their personal belongings, etc.
Piano - Will a piano be available? If yes, has this been regularly tuned and maintained?
Programmes - Performances can vary in length from a minimum of 1 hour and can be tailored according to your specific requirements. The IWSF programmes are not considered as being suitable for use as background music.
Lighting - Will there be adequate lighting available in the performance area?
